E KOMO MAI ... WELCOME TO MY HALAU!

Malama 'Aina ... If you malama your 'aina, your 'aina will malama you!

Beliefs ... dogma ... doctrina ... religion ... all of these terms strive to constrain as much as they try to define a person's spirituality. In my world, spirituality begins with your spirit self ... Uhane nui 'au ... Spirit Greatness. If you do not love yourself enough to know your self, trust your gut to tell you the truth in each and every moment, then you are not Pono ... not centered and not in harmony ... and cannot be a competent navigator of your canoe ... your true self as you negotiate your way, moment to moment, through he wai o ke 'ola, the Waters of Life.

Once you master living in the moment, then it is vital to the survival of the people to work together as one 'Ohana ... through the practices of Laulima, the definition of "community" and Kokua, freely helping your neighbor -- taken together, we call this approach malama ka 'aina ... because we, as a People, cannot be the competent caretakers of Ka 'Aina, Mother Earth, and her Oceans, Ka Makai, without first achieving Lokahi ... Unity ... within our 'Ohana that is humankind. One Island cared for by One 'Ohana ... that is our responsibility, our charge, if we are to live pono ... righteously ... together and in perpetuity. That is the way of living the Aloha Spirit.

My halau, 'Aha Hui Lanakila™, is dedicated to expanding your mind with skills and knowledge to empower your spirit to abundantly manifest your healing intentions through ways of Aloha. I offer the opportunity for you to learn a valuable skill or two as ways to help you better navigate your own canoe as you journey through the biggest ocean out there ... Life!

Being Pono is all about walking your talk daily ... hele ka 'olelo. I invite you to listen to my BlogTalkRadio show, "Da Coconut Wireless," to check out how I apply my theory into daily practice!

* * * * * On February 21, 2009, I was interviewed by Nick, a/k/a Bright Sorcerer of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, on BlogTalkRadio, about how I go about living the higher vibrations. Enjoy!
* * * * * Robert Zink is the head of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn (EOGD), of which Order I am an initiated member. He created an official Golden Dawn BlogTalkRadio show talking about previously undiscussed aspects of The Golden Dawn experience. Enjoy!

THE CONCEPT OF PO

This lesson comes from the teachings of Kumu Hula Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu, a well known and innovative Hula master whose Halau is located in Oakland, California. This lesson is taught in mo'olelo, a sacred learning circle, and is usually accompanied to the beat of traditional Pahu drums. It is a soulful experience to be in his presence ... his Mana is extraordinary!

Q: What is Po?

A: Po is described as Light or Darkness. In the early times of Hawai'i, the people measured time on a… Continue

Finally, The Truth About Mathers, The Golden Dawn and Alpha et Omega

To my friends and immediate family, it is no secret that I am a Shaman and a Magician of the Esoteric Order of The Golden Dawn ("EOGD"). So, I thought I'd begin talking about the Order by debunking some of the many misconceptions non-initiates seem to hold about the EOGD and its colorful history and past members.

Below is a recent blog written by Robert Zink, the Imperator General of the EOGD, who is himself an amazingly down-to-earth, magical persona and quite knowledgeable in the Western myst… Continue

Spiritual Ethics - Things To Consider When Offering Healings

Not Everyone Is Ready To Be Healed

I know it is hard to believe, but not everyone is ready to be healed, even when they find themselves at the point of contacting a healer. Below are some "excuses" for continuing to tolerate physical dis-ease or im-balance:

An excuse to get off work, or be released from responsibilities;

To get nurturing attention or tenderness (adults as well as children);

People who are learning some valuable lessons through their illness, and these lessons are cruc… Continue

About Living Aloha ...

Since 2007, I have been learning how to play guitar in the Ki Ho'alu style, Hawaiian Slack Key ... a soulful and rather spiritual interpretation of the Hawaiian spirit, spoken through the slacked-down strings of a simple guitar. Perhaps you can say that this learning experience was my 2007 Yule gift to my Spirit.

Ha'aha'a is the key to Aloha.

Like our approach to being Pono (no surprise), it is the philosophy of the Hawaiian Slack Key guitarists that good music doesn't come from… Continue

Lokahi (Harmony): Breath Of Ha Meditation

TECHNIQUE: This is my 4-count breathing exercise, which I perform after each of my radio shows. You see, there is method to my madness! There are 4 stages of 4 counts each:

1 - inhale, to the count of 4
2 - hold for 4 counts
3 - begin exhale, to the count of 4, and
4 - continue exhaling for 4 more counts.

Perform in multiples of 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 27, etc. Ideally, you perform this meditation between stages of the LBRP, as well as in between each activation of the 5 middle Serphira in the Middle… Continue

About Me:
Aloha pumehana kakou!

Warm greetings to you and to all who are in your Circle!

I am a second-generation, American-born Filipino woman who grew up as a latch-key kid on military bases all over the Navy’s Western Pacific Rim tour – The Philippines; Okinawa; Guam; Japan; Hawai’i, Seattle’s Puget Sound Bay Area and finally the San Francisco Bay Area. I am divorced, no kids and live in Vallejo, California – a place I have come and gone from, but always returned to and called home since 1972. I have a Jardine’s parrot named Kaleo, who acts like my good-will ambassador with all my houseguests. My parents live to the north in Elk Grove with my Cocketiel, Sam. (Sam just passed away in July, 2008, after 25 years with our Ohana.) My younger brother and his family of four live happily to the east in Stockton with my Senegal parrot, Lee Lee.

Indeed, birds are an integral part of my Ohana, my family. My father’s love of birds, which he learned from his father and grandfathers, impressed me throughout his retelling of his childhood stories growing up in the Philippines. During my impressionable years at Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School, my teachers meticulously taught the detailed history of the Hawaiian islands, its people and the many concepts and values that describe the Hawaiian spiritual paradigm, in addition to reading, writing and arithmetic. Their teachings became a major influence in my life. One notable story I always remember is about the Hawaiian Sea Tern and how they are the vessels that embody our Spirit selves. I admire this bird because no matter how many miles it flies out to sea to forage for food, it always manages to find its way back to land before nightfall. Similarly, I view my life experiences as the sum total of many different outings in my canoe onto the waters of life in search of sustenance in the form of obtaining Clarity in one form or another. I reach land when I acknowledge the lesson learned, with gratitude. For these reasons, I adopted the Hawaiian sea tern, Ka 'Iwi, as one of my personal ‘aumakua, a spirit guardian.

As for birds as pets, I find parrots especially intelligent and good companions because they are expressive in their mannerisms and intuitively communicative once they begin learning human speech patterns. Hence, I was inspired to name my parrot Kaleo, because ka leo means “the voice.”

I am an Intuitive Healer, Hawaiian shaman and Reiki Grandmaster and use these skills to augment my energy workings to assist others. I work with individuals who suffer from anxiety and depression by teaching meditation, meditational breathing and relaxation skills. I incorporate over twenty years of studying alternative medicine modalities, i.e., Hawaiian la'au lapa'au (herbal medicine), EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), reflexology/shiatsu, crystalwork, Hedgewitchery and hands-on healing in my Energyworking practice.

A shaman is an original researcher working in the sciences of religion and magick for the purposes of advancing humanity's knowledge of the correct (i.e., most effective) ways of having meaningful direct communication with deities, spirits and non-physical beings in their natural planes, states, or conditions. For example, I blend my understanding of herbal and floral essences with my knowledge of quantum physics and geomagnetics to create an energy bridge that nurtures balance and harmony within a person's being. Ka Hana Pono is my spiritual paradigm. It is my daily practice of being Pono, or living balanced, by always living in the moment. "Balance" and "harmony" are further defined within this framework as I continue to communicate with you through my website.

I have a special affinity for healing others using the electromagnetic energies generated by crystals. I am able to locate dis-ease and im-balance that is rooted deep within a person's psyche and heal its physical manifestation. I have researched the properties of hundreds of crystals and minerals and add to that list regularly on my website.

I promote the depth and richness that is the heritage of Pacific Islanders, of whom Filipinos and Hawaiians are culturally, spiritually and genetically related. In sharing knowledge handed down to me, I hope to help others discover/rediscover a richness in culture that continues to contribute to the vitality of the Island called Mother Earth. In this way, stories will be perpetuated and knowledge remembered.
Personal Website:

Offerings (Healing, Art, etc.):
Healing, Counseling
Goals (Personal, Planetary, etc.):
To accomplish many journeys as a Hawaiian sea tern navigating through and flying over the waters of life.
Important Teachers:
Mom, Lola Anna and all my Grandmothers back to the beginning of the Mangahas tribe (one of the original indigenous tribes of the Philippines); Dad and all our Generao Grandparents, and the XIV Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, are whom I consider Na Kupuna and Ku'u Hoa Aloha ... My Master Instructors and My Precious Companions.
Favorite Books:
The Joy of Living (Y.M. Rinpoche); Ethics for The New Millinium (Dalai Lama); LoTR trilogy, including The Cimarillion and The Hobbit (JRR Tolkein) as conversation-starters; Anne Rice; Pila of Hawai'i; a litany of classics in literature, philosophy, history and politics too numerous to name here. I am also an aspiring writer; my present focus is on writing literature that focuses on teaching Hawaiian values and spirituality.
Favorite Music:
When I have an hour or two of quiet time in the early or late evenings, weather permitting, I enjoy sitting outside on my lanai playing ki ho’alu (Hawaiian slack key) tunes on my guitar. The acoustics created between my house and the neighbor’s tall trees become the relaxing backdrop for a wonderfully rejuvenating, soulful experience, especially when there are gentle trade winds blowing through our hillside. Those are the moments I am filled with gratitude for the things I have accomplished thus far in life.

But, I also enjoy: classical; opera; blues; jazz (all genres, especially older fusion stuff); Soul and R&B ('70s old school); Do-Wop, 50's to 70's; alternative/Goth; Andres Segovia; Oscar Peterson; the Marsalis Brothers; OPM (original Pilipino Music) artists, like Basil Valdez, Ku Ledesma, Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera, to name a few.
